Creative Ideas for Your Adoption Profile Photoshoot

This post is dedicated to finding creative ways to take great photos even if you live in an area of the country or world where it’s hard to get beautiful photos year round (I’m in Wisconsin, so I can relate!).

For those of us who live in cold-weather climates it can be so hard to take great photos in the wintertime! If you’re able to get outside for photos, it’s often dark, snowy, and bare which isn’t ideal for photos that should feel warm and inviting. Take a peak at this client’s photos. They started out with a “cold” photo for their front cover (below).

Photos that are taken outdoors when it's cold and the sun is lower in the sky often have a blueish tone to the photos, which further makes them feel "cold." We want your photos to exude a cheery warmth, so backgrounds with warmer colors are so important.

I encouraged them to find some colorful backgrounds around town that weren't snow or bare ground and they came back with a set of awesome, new photos!

They nailed it! Great job Suzie and Frank!

If outdoor locations are out of the question because of weather, you can also think about indoor locations like quirky coffee shops, cheery stores like Cost Plus, or indoor garden centers like our clients Kelsey and Ryan!
