Megan Adopts
INTRODUCTION
Hello! My name is Megan!
I am grateful to share a little bit of my story with you.
I am a special education teacher living in Northern Illinois. Through caring for children locally and internationally for years, God has been preparing me for my greatest adventure yet… motherhood. I can only imagine the difficult choices you’ve had to make on your own journey, and pray you find a sense of peace and comfort, no matter what decision you make. If I have the opportunity to learn about the hopes and dreams that you have for your child, I believe together, we could create an adoption plan that would provide your child with a bright future filled with love, adventure, and family.
A LITTLE ABOUT ME
I am an active single woman living in the heart of the city, but with strong family roots in the country.
Growing up, I spent the majority of my time outside climbing trees, playing sports with my brothers, splashing in the creek, and riding bikes. I continue to love exploring nature, going on adventures, listening to music, and spending time with my family and friends and can’t wait to share these things with a child. I enjoy treasure hunting at outdoor markets for furniture I refinish for my house. I love relaxing with a book in my free time, and I have a growing collection of children’s books for your child to enjoy.
My Career: God has gifted me with a servant’s heart as I teach and advocate for students with disabilities, coach Special Olympics, volunteer at church, and help my friends and family whenever I can. As a teacher, I have set hours, scheduled breaks and holidays off, and the best part, two months off in the summer for family adventures!
I have also worked part-time for a family for over 13 years helping take care of their two daughters- Zoë and Grace. I consider the girls and their parents a part of my extended family and they are nothing but supportive of me and my journey to become a mother through adoption.
Meet “My Girls”
My Travels to Haiti
“My girls” as I call them, Dayana (age 9) and Wiscalene (age 6), are without parents and living with different relatives in the village. I provide financial support for the girls’ education, medical care, food for their families, and holiday celebrations. During my travels to Haiti, I have been able to help plan and attend their birthday parties, do arts and crafts projects, teach at their school, read to them, play games, paint their nails, and ultimately fall deeply in love with my girls as I watch them learn and grow.
It is in large part because of them that I have a deep desire in my heart to become a mother through adoption. I know that I will love your child as if he or she were my own flesh and blood.
MY HOME AND COMMUNITY
I live in a diverse, family-friendly community in northern Illinois with a lot of young families on my street – perfect for playdates!
I have restored my cape cod style home and love my fenced in backyard and patio, which is perfect for a child to run and play. Nearby, there are three parks with playgrounds, a neighborhood ice cream shop, and a bike path with gardens along the river to explore. Although I live in the city, when I want to escape to the country setting or a local forest preserve, it’s less than a 20 minute drive. I couldn’t be in a more perfect location!

The People I Love
My Family and Friends
Your child would not only be gaining an adventurous and loving mother, but would also be blessed with loving grandparents living nearby. My mom is the best cook and baker that I know, and I am lucky to have learned my way around the kitchen from her. I also get my green thumb from my mom, who has inspired me to add new plants and flowers to my landscaping each year.
My dad is a jack of all trades. He has helped me with many furniture and home improvement projects. Together, we renovated a bedroom to create a nursery. My dad and I can’t wait to take a little one on their first fishing trip up north!
Your child will also enjoy playing with their cousins, aunts and uncles, and our family dogs. Uncle David, Aunt Britta, and cousins Edith (age 5), and Henning (age 1) are full of energy and enjoy being outdoors, listening to music, dancing, and playing. I see future road trips being planned to go visit Uncle Brandon and Aunt Erin, who are currently living in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
in closing
Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and my story.
I am excited to become a mother and honored to be considered as a parent for your child.
If I am the mother you choose, I promise to raise your child in a safe, secure, and loving Christian home, surrounded by family and friends, with a life filled with adventure, curiosity, and honesty about how much you and I love them. I pray for your peace and comfort as you continue to make brave and courageous decisions for your child’s future. I look forward to connecting with you to learn more about your story and how together, our stories could be intertwined.
With love and gratitude,
Megan
