We are Lindsey and Doug from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois

Along with our daughters Veronica, Emilie, and Maxine

Thank you for taking a few minutes to learn more about our family. As parents ourselves, we understand how much thoughtfulness goes into making such an important decision for your child. Your bravery and kindness in allowing us the opportunity to walk alongside you in this journey is inspiring.

We have always discussed adoption as part of our story. Lindsey was adopted so it is a natural choice in how she envisioned her own family. Our house is filled with the giggles of our little girls and just the right amount of crazy.

We met in the most romantic way: online!

We often joke about how a computer program set up our life together but now, in what seems like the blink of an eye, it’s been ten years. It was obvious right away that we shared the same sense of humor and dry sarcasm that made spending time together easy and fun. More importantly, however, it was the compatibility we shared both being family-oriented people who love to travel and more than anything, wanted to raise a family that helped cement our bond. We became best friends quickly and that is the part of our relationship that has guided the rest, through ups and downs. We naturally put our marriage first and we’re both lucky that it’s a choice we both continue to choose daily.

Traveling and family traditions

For our family, tradition and family time is often spent at our lake house. It’s a cozy space that Lindsey has had in her family since she was 12.

During the summer, we spend the days swimming off of the dock or tubing on the boat. We spend colder months walking around the lake, making fires and playing games. Something about the lake house just brings out a sense of peacefulness and fun! 

We both make traveling a priority because for us, experiences have always been more valuable than material items. We make a point to travel once or twice a year just the two of us, however, we usually choose to travel as a family. Bring on the adventure and fun!

Our house is full of family traditions. Every year, we set up leprechaun traps for St. Paddy’s Day, do Easter Egg hunts and spend the 4th of July watching Fireworks at our lake house. Every year, we have a family Halloween costume and every Christmas, our entire family has matching pajamas. For us, traditions are everything. We’re really lucky to have the life that we do.

Veronica, Emilie, and Maxine

Our girls are thrilled about adopting! They ask about the baby regularly and play “family” and “big sisters” with their dolls. They’re excited!

Veronica is our rule-following oldest child. She is independent and confident but is endlessly rooting for her sisters. She is our silliest girl and is always wanting to make everyone laugh...but is very sweet and loving.

Emmie is a strong-willed, independent thinker who is a wiz at puzzles and games. She loves to build things and is usually wearing her princess dress. Her hair is curly, her favorite color is yellow and if it were up to her, she’d go everywhere with her puppy stuffed animal.

Maxie is a feisty little thing. She’s a great combination of princess and tomboy. Her walk includes a skip (always!) and while our littlest by a lot, she has always been our loudest. She’s usually singing and laughing. She’s hysterical, witty and keeps us on our toes.

It’s so hard to relay everything you’d like to about your life in a short profile but we hope that you have gotten a good feel for how we live our lives and the kind of love we can’t wait to show another child.

In life, we know that there are few guarantees but we can absolutely promise that we love unconditionally. We love that our children experience both adventure and calm happiness together... and we know that another baby would be snuggled by our entire family daily.
