Erin and Robert Adopt
INTRODUCTION
Hello! We are Erin & Robert from Illinois. Thank you for reading our profile!
Erin is a birth mother herself. When she was younger, she found herself unable to support and provide for her child in the way her child deserved. She made the most difficult decision of her life, but one she felt was the best for her child and placed her daughter for adoption. It was a semi-open adoption and she couldn’t have asked for better adoptive parents. They gave her child a loving and supportive life. They also kept Erin updated through the years.
Today, Erin has a wonderful relationship with her daughter, we've both been able to meet and hang out with her daughter. Because of her experience, an open adoption is something we feel very positive about.
about us
We live in Skokie, a suburb of Chicago Illinois, with our dog Buddy and our cats Bro and Kid. We have always wanted a family.
We met online through Match.com. We pretty much hit it off right from the start. Both of us grew up in north Chicago suburbs in Catholic households and had so much love for our families. We also both love cats and dogs. From the get go, there were a lot of shared experiences and values which made it really easy for us to connect with each other. Now we enjoy traveling, going to restaurants, comedy shows, bike rides, and taking our dog Buddy for walks.
Sharing our lives with children and giving them a loving home is very important to us. We’ve been unable to have children and it felt natural to pursue adoption as our next step.
“Our dream is to give our child a loving, stable and fulfilling childhood so they can grow up to be a loving and successful adult.”

Growing up in Chicago, Robert is a pure Midwesterner who can tell you everything there is to know about the wonderful City of Chicago. He has an affinity for all things technology and works for a financial firm doing tech support. When he is not working, you will probably find him playing volleyball and pickleball in a rec league somewhere. Lately, Robert has been spending a lot of time working on the yard and garden.
our home
We live in Skokie, it’s a small suburb just north of Chicago which gives it the warmth and charm of a small town, at the same time, we are only a short drive away from all that Chicago has to offer. Locally, Skokie is well known for its shopping, restaurants and stores that are a short bike and car ride away. We have great neighbors, they are all friendly and often have treats for Buddy when we go on walks.
Our house is a split-level ranch home. There’s a front and a back yard as well as a side garden where we grow vegetables and flowers. The elementary school is about 3 blocks away and there is a neighborhood park with tennis courts, softball fields and a swimming pool only 4 blocks away.
We Have 3 rescue Pets:
We sell real estate and one day, we were chatting with our clients about Buddy during the open house. Our client told us that Buddy was going to be given up to a shelter. Without hesitation, we said we will take him! He has been a wonderful part of the family ever since.
Bro and Kid are two cats that originally belonged to Erin’s dad. He rescued them when they were kittens. They were living on the beach in Naples, Florida. When Erin’s dad moved up to Illinois to live in a nursing home and the cats could not move in with him, it so happened that we had room in our home for new furry friends. We drove down to Naples and picked Bro and Kid up. Erin’s dad really appreciated being able to visit the cats, and they loved it as well.
