INTRODUCTION

Hello! My name is Brigitte!

I am grateful for your time in learning about me.

I’m a single woman living in a diverse and vibrant community in Chicago. I have wanted to be a mother for as long as I can remember and love being around children. I am excited for the opportunity to build my family through adoption, and more than ready to get to know you, as we explore whatever level of openness makes you comfortable.

My dream is to raise your child with a similar experience to what I had growing up. Prioritizing friends and family, giving back to the community, and taking part in as many different experiences as possible. I hope to instill in your child the qualities that I find essential in living a full and happy life—a good work ethic, a kind heart, and an adventurous spirit.

I’d like to share a bit more about my life.

My work: I work as a business executive and my favorite part of my job is working with coworkers to solve problems. I enjoy mentoring younger staff and helping them develop in their careers. I worked very hard to get to a point in my career where I am at a senior level and can dictate my schedule. I have the ability to work from home and your child will be my priority.

Education is very important to me. I attended the University of Notre Dame and that is where I met many of my closest friends. Even though they live all over the country, we remain in close contact. There is nothing like walking around the beautiful campus and attending a football game in the fall, and I hope to share that love with your child. 

THE FUN STUFF

My passion is traveling!

I have visited many places in Europe. Paris is my favorite city and Italy is my overall favorite country. I believe exposure to other cultures is a wonderful experience, and I plan to expose your child to the world.

I have friends that live in South Africa and have been on safari there twice. I enjoy going on cruises, especially with groups of friends/family, because there are activities for all ages. My family did a lot of camping when I was younger, and I have been to many US National Parks. Two years ago, I went on a trip to the National Parks in Utah and Arizona and they are simply amazing. 

I cannot wait to revisit these places again so your child can experience everything they have to offer.

My home and community

I live in a single-family home in Chicago!

My neighborhood has a lot of younger children and there is a playground one block away. There are many restaurants and shops within walking distance and one of my favorite things to do is eat outdoors when the weather is nice. I enjoy riding my bike and there is a bike/walking trail close by. The train to downtown is also a short walk, and this makes it very easy to take advantage of everything Chicago has to offer. I love visiting the museums, walking around Millenium Park or the River Walk, or going on an Architectural Boat Cruise down the river. I attend many theater and dance shows throughout the year. 

My home has fun spaces for a little one to play in.

I have two large decks which gives private space for spending time outdoors. I also have a large basement rec room that I can’t wait to fill with children’s toys and games.

My family and friends

We grew up in a suburb of Minneapolis, MN with my parents and two younger brothers. My dad is very social and loves talking to everyone. He coached my childhood softball team and attended every dance recital. He currently lives about two hours away from me and relishes the idea of being a grandparent.

My mom passed away 10 years ago, but she will definitely influence the way I raise my child. We were her priority and there was never a day that I didn’t feel love and comfort. She also gave us independence to make our own choices and to learn from our mistakes. I miss her every day.

My brothers still live in Minnesota and keep telling me how much they cannot wait to be “fun uncles”. They are very free spirited. One is a professional musician in a band who has a day-job teaching kids to play guitar, trombone and trumpet. He got married last year to a wonderful woman. My other brother works at a movie theater and loves Legos.

If you choose to place your child with me, I promise they will be the center of my universe. She/he will be loved unconditionally, and raised with a strong work ethic, a good education, an abundance of friends and family support, and many opportunities to travel and participate in activities. I believe in open adoption and will respect your wishes about how much or little contact you would like in the future.

I truly hope this book helped you see what your child’s life might look like with me. I wish you all the best in your journey, and though I can never know what you must be feeling as you make this incredibly hard decision, I will always do my best to help you remember that you are courageous and valued. And more importantly, your child will always know you and the courage it took for you to walk this path.
