Sample Profiles

The cost for my services is $800. For this fee I will work closely with you to create an 8-12 page profile that authentically represents you to birthparents. I’ve found that everyone approaches a project like this differently and needs varying levels of information and assistance with the process. With this in mind when we begin working together I’ll share all sorts of information with you that you might find helpful as you pull together your photos and text. You will be free to browse my library of Tip Sheets to learn about some of the finer points of photo selection and how to avoid common pitfalls in text creation. I will also make questionnaires available to you to assist with your text development if necessary and to help you brainstorm “fun facts” to add to your profile. I will coach you on which photos to use and more importantly which ones not to use, and will correct photos you have that may need a some work. In addition I will erase all identifying information from your photos such as your house number or nametags, and I will digitally correct or enhance your photos as needed.

The final component of your profile is the design and layout. Before a birthparent reads a single word she/he should have a sense of your personalities by just glancing at your profile. Color creates mood, and style speaks volumes about your personality. Design for me is an intuitive process; by studying your photos, reading your text and chatting with you on the phone I am able to create something that accurately and beautifully represents you to birthparents. Our phone conversation about style and color will last at least a half hour and it's an invaluable way for me to get to know you and your ideas for your profile.

While I don’t provide printed copies of your profile, I am happy to facilitate printing for you with one of several commercial presses I work with. I have developed relationships with several great presses, and depending on your specific needs I can usually save you significantly over the cost of using a retail printer.

I work on a flat fee basis, so all work entailed in the creation of your profile is included- there are no hidden or unexpected fees. I include four rounds of edits- three for you and an additional round for your agency approval. Before we begin working together you will be able to review my fee agreement in full.
